Auditions are held from October to May annually.
Audition application packs are available from LTS or by downloading from our website. This will contain detailed information about the audition day and audition assessment criteria. All talented candidates who apply will be invited to audition.

On arrival to their audition, candidates will be shown around the school by current students and welcomed by the Principal. The morning session will consist of  three workshops in Ballet, Drama and Singing. Suitable breaks in between are allocated. In the afternoon students present their prepared solos in Singing, Dance and Drama. All candidates are interviewed by the Principal to discuss their experience, needs and ambitions.
Assessments are completed throughout the day by the LTS Audition panel and Principal. Candidates will be informed in writing within 7-10 days post Audition day.

Overseas Candidates

Fee paying Students from outside the United Kingdom who are unable to audition in person can do so by video or DVD. Audition application forms should be completed and returned with the video/DVD. Students who are successful will be given assistance with finding accommodation etc.
Students seeking DaDa Awards will need to attend LTS Award day if they wish to be considered for a DaDa Award or Scholarship.

MUSICAL THEATRE

3 YEAR COURSE - AUDITION

The audition day is from 9.30 am - 3.00 pm approximately. On the day please wear appropriate clothing and footwear for each workshop and each solo audition. Warm up facilites are available from 9.30 am.Hair to be in classical style for ballet workshop

You will receive an interview with the Principal. You will also need to:

  • Prepare and perform a solo musical theatre style dance piece (Not Tap or Ballet) - time 2 minutes
  • Prepare and perform a speech from a text of your own choice or taken from LTS scripts. Please supply a copy of the script for the audition panel. Please note that you will not be allowed to refer to your script.
  • Prepare and perform two contrasting musical theatre songs with piano accompaniment (One ballad and one up tempo). Please bring your sheet music for the audition.
  • You may be required to sing only one of your prepared songs which must be known from memory. (No backing tracks)
  • Participate in 3 workshops - ballet, acting through song and singing, for approximately 45 minutes each

What happens next?
All auditioning students receive a response within 7-10 days informing them of the outcome of their audition.
